Martijn's interest in world and ethnic is also omni-present in his compositions. No matter if it is classical, jazz, Indian music, Arab music, Eastern European, African or popular, in every musical tradition there are elements that can be used, and most interseting of all is to combine them to create sounds and athmoshperes that haven't been heard before. Martijn says that most challenging of all is to develop a personal compositional style out of all this.
